It’s not uncommon for accidents in the workspace, and the percentage of such accidents is always high every year. Selecting the best PPE for the employees must be the priority for most companies in Australia, and adding a pair of reliable cut resistant gloves will add to that effectiveness.

Since the gloves meet the standard set forward by the Australian government regarding workplace safety wear, they can limit the damage workers take. Moreover, most of the accidents in the country to the fingers and hands occur because they were not wearing any protection gloves. However, workers must be extra cautious when working with machines closely with their hands.

    Benefits Of Cut Resistant Gloves:

Cut-resistant gloves can drastically reduce the risk of lacerations and other injuries. Moreover, these work gloves also offer the following advantages:

They Ensure Complete Safety For The Workers:

Australian workers prone to cutting accidents can wear these work gloves to add a layer of hardened protection for their hands and fingers. Workers who frequently use industrial knives, cutting machines and other devices with sharp moving edges can wear these gloves as part of their PPE and get adequate protection without compromising their safety. Furthermore, they can minimise the risk of injury and boost their confidence and productivity since they don’t need to stress about any injuries.

They Are Comfortable To Work In:

When hearing about such gloves, it’s easy to misunderstand them as a pair of immovable rock-hard gloves. Contrary to popular belief, these gloves are way more comfortable than other components of the PPE kits and workers can enjoy superior comfortability and added functionality while they work.

This is because the work gloves are designed so that the material, although rugged and sturdy, is still flexible enough for the worker to perform all the essential functions without extra effort. Hence, there’s no need to feel uncomfortable wearing them as they are designed to be as comfy as possible.

They Offer Other Types Of Protection, Too:

Sturdy work gloves not only protect the hands of workers from cutting accidents, but they also protect them from the extreme heat and abrasion that may occur while working inside or on the machine.

The dense fabric keeps all the shards and splinters at bay and protects the hands from broken glass. Depending upon the material, the gloves can also absorb the paint, oil, gasoline and other forms of contamination without letting it seep through to the hand surface.

Employees who work in colder areas can get customised work gloves that retain body heat and keep the temperature constant even at the lowest working temperatures. Hence, it helps limit accidents to a great extent, as workers will be committed to maintaining the highest standards when it comes to workplace safety.

    Conclusion

Workers can even get extra armour fitted into their work gloves if they want an additional protection barrier, which limits the freedom of movement. However, the degree of protection will also depend upon the intensity of the workplace injury that can happen.

Riskier chances of injury may need more robust and sturdy work gloves, whereas minor risks can do with fewer sturdy gloves that are more flexible and easy to handle.

Always follow the safety protocols and thoroughly review the regulations to minimise the risks of an accident or reduce the chances of injury.

The current international standard for gloves designed to protect against mechanical injury is EN 388, which has been adopted word for word by AS/NZS 2161. However, this standard has a number of shortcomings. In particular, the performance tests are often misconstrued and often do not reflect the environment in which a glove may be used, or the glove’s actual performance in all-too-common circumstances.
